Rehabilitation Neighbourhood: The Healing of the Ailing Human Being

Hong Kong/ Guangzhou 2015

The objective of the studio is to design 10 different forms of rehabilitation centres, each responding to a specific ailment and associated therapy, i.e. physical or addiction rehabilitation, to collectively form a complex or communal neighborhood of healing.

 

The site will be on a brownfield site in Guangzhou, China, where the students will have to adapt and liaise with existing structures. The centre’s surface area will depend on the selected form of therapy but between 5,000 – 10,000 sqm.  

 

The course will pursues the development of the project as the material consequence of a spatial idea, by experimenting and verifying the project itself through models on a large scale and using different materials.
